Wild Card of the Week: Influences All Signs

In Egypt, revered as the Great Mother Goddess, Isis overcame the hatred of Seth, found all the body parts of her slain lover Osiris, revived him from the dead for one single reunion in love ‐ to receive and give birth to their child Horus. She is not only the Goddess of Love but also an icon of perseverance, teaching us to never give up on something or someone we truly love and want. She encourages us to believe in ourselves, in our strength to accomplish our goals and allow healing.

Aries: March 21 - April 19

Daughter of Zeus and his first wife Metis, Athene was born from her father' head when He split it with an axe to stop his headache. Athene represents wisdom, as She used insight and art to avoid being trapped in the intrigues of the Gods and Goddesses of the Greek pantheon. Even though She wore weapons and armour from birth, She conquered Her enemies with Her words and mind rather than with Her sword. Like Athene, you have this wisdom in you to win your battles. If you are in such a 'battle' situation, use your brain and avoid engaging emotionally. If not ‐ you might want to watch out for people around you, trying to play games… In all decision matters ‐ voice your objections at any time. Don't succumb to emotional blackmail. Be brave!

Taurus: April 20 - May 20

In old Crete, Hygieia was the Goddess of Health in terms of prophylaxis/prevention from illness. The term hygiene comes from Her name. Unlike Her father Aesculap, who is the God of Healing, She avoids and prevents whatever could cause illness. Hygieia asks us to take care of ourselves, treat our bodies with respect and watch out for the signs of our bodies. This can mean having enough sleep/rest, proper food, a spa, self‐respect (as many physical illnesses are triggered by emotional stress), but also taking the time for preventive medical check‐ups.

Gemini: May 21 - June 20

Isamba was the personification of the Nightmoon in Tansania. When She and Her husband the Sun God were quarrelling about who was wiser, She became, by coincidence, the Goddess of Death, and connected with the cycles of life and death. Our whole life consists of cycles of growing and dying. Isamba tells us that once we accept the situation we are in, and the place where we are put, we can understand the reasons. There are lessons we want to learn, so we should better have a positive approach to it. We will enjoy life much better when we accept its cyclic nature, and that we are always at the right place at the right time.

Cancer: June 21 - July 22

Originally a Fertility Goddess, Fortuna was worshipped in the Roman empire as Goddess of Fortune. She ruled over the laws of coincidence, and nobody could tell when and where She would strike ‐ not even Herself as She is often pictured blindfolded. Her message: You never know, so believe in your good fortune and luck!

Leo: July 23 - August 22

In Norse Mythology, the Goddess Iduna is known for Her youth and beauty. She grows the golden apples for the Aesir in Her garden, and is responsible for the well‐being of the Gods and their immortality. The Norse folk believed that in the fruit of an apple a soul could be passed on from one body to another. Do you have such a garden ‐ your Avalon? What are the fruits in your garden that give you youth, beauty and immortality?

Virgo: August 23 - September 22

Changing Woman

As one of the most important deities of the Navajo, Changing Woman represents the Earth, with Her ever‐changing faces ‐ the seasons. Changing Woman teaches us that every phase/season in our life is of equal value and holds its blessings ‐ and that being able to see these blessings gives us strength.

Libra: September 23 - October 22

The Sumerian Moon Goddess descended into the Underworld where She was captured by Her Sister Ereshkigal, the Goddess of Death. Life had stopped to grow as the Moon had vanished from the sky. After three days, the God Enki helped Her and She was sprinkled with the waters of life and returned. Inanna teaches that we should not be afraid of the darkness and to be confident.

Scorpio: October 23 - November 21

Among the Irish Celts, Danu was worshipped as a great Goddess of Wisdom and Wealth. She is connected to streams, representing abundance. Wisdom and insight come from within, they are the product of our experiences, that flow to us and our spirit, like a river that creates the wisdom to grow.

Sagittarius: November 22 - December 21

She is the Japanese Goddess who brings good luck and wealth. She rules over wisdom, beauty, music and art. Often She is depicted with many arms and hands, representing Her many gifts and talents, and Her generosity. Sharing one's gifts and talents with others can bring us luck and material wealth. Only in what we really love to do will we be exceptionally good.

Capricorn: December 22 - January 19

Aine is the Irish Celtic Goddess of Love and Light. She was connected to Sun and Moon alike. As Queen of the Elves, one could summon Her powers. The power of love as basis of the creation, of life itself. Aine encourages you to integrate and awaken the Magic in your life.

Aquarius: January 20 - February 18

In Russian Folklore, the Zorya is a Trinity/Triple Goddess. Each of the three is ruling over a certain time of the day. The first is the Morningstar, the second is the Eveningstar and the third is the Midnight. They are the Watchers of the Universe, and protect it from "Dog of the Last Day" Feel the peace of their protection and the peace that comes with it. Feel both in your heart, you are protected.

Pisces: February 19 - March 20

In India, Aditi is the Creatrice of Life, She gave birth to all the other Gods and Goddesses. Aditi means limitless. We create our own reality. Accept this as well as the responsibility that comes with it. Take care of what you are thinking and what way you choose to walk, and which reality you choose for yourself.
